The nervous system takes impressions and information from the outside world (external stimuli) and selectively stores this information in the memory for future reference and application. It also coordinates messages from internal body systems (internal stimuli), making it possible for the body to readjust constantly to changing internal and external environments. Consequently, the nervous system is the director of all body activities.
- The body needs a constant supply of energy to perform its many tasks. You breathe, your heart beats, you talk, you laugh, and you move around. You can to all these things because your digestive system converts the food you eat into fuel for your body's energy demands.
- The hematologic system consists of the components of the blood (ie, plasma and formed elements) and the bone marrow, the primary organ that manufactures blood cells. The lymphatic system consists of the lymphatic vessels and tissues. Other organs and structures, such as the spleen, liver, and kidneys, also perform specific functions related to these systems
Most people take for granted the fact that their bodies produce all kinds of motion. By working in harmony, the various components of the body produce actions that allow independence and discovery. The musculoskeletal system includes the skeleton, joints, bursae, ligaments, muscles and tendons. The skeleton provides the bony framework for the human body. The entire system works together to enable physical movement.
